A FINE AND RARE 18-BORE PERCUSSION SMOOTH-BORE COACHING-CARBINE, no visible serial number,
circa 1845, with browned fine damascus 20in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'D. MURRAY, STONEHAVEN', bead fore-sight, engraved band at join with breech and fully scroll engraved rib-end, colour-hardened breech-blocks with engraved plugs, fully borderline and scroll engraved top-tang with shallow sighting groove, fine border and scroll engraved colour hardened bar-action locks signed 'D. MURRAY' in a banner on the bar, scroll engraved colour hardened hammers, finely chequered figured walnut half-stock with engraved and blued furniture (loss to finish on heel-plate), brass mounted ebony ramrod, the whole in fine condition and retaining the majority of its original finish throughout
